International links
We have strong links
with the British Council and have funding to extend our Ugandan
link with additional, reciprocal visits. We have an exciting
European project on pupil welfare with schools in Finland,
Sweden, Germany, Italy and Estonia. We have these links
with schools and colleges in other countries in the belief that
we can learn much from others and share any knowledge or
expertise we may have.

In September 2007 Silverdale was awarded the prestigious
"International Schools Award" in recognition of its work in this
area. |
|
Every year we are
visited by Austrian Teachers as part of their training
programme. They spend a week with a class which the children
really enjoy, particularly the traditional dancing (lederhosen
optional!)
We have strong
links with schools in Africa, Asia and Europe. In recent months
we have raised money for and communicated with schools in Sri
Lanka affected by the Tsunami.
Mr Stephenson recently
visited
Tangalle Model Primary School in the small town of Tangalle
on the southern coast of Sri Lanka.

We have also developed a closer
link with the Nakulabye School in the suburbs of Uganda. The
children have exchanged letters and photos. We have also
supported their school through activities such as fundraising
for their Christmas Party. Their conditions are very
different to our school. 40% of the children have no parents as
they have died through Aids. Mr Stephenson visited their school
in February, and you can see photographs of his visit by
clicking here.

The headteacher of Nakulabye School, Mr
Moses recently came to Silverdale
to further the link. |
